Penny Allman-Payne for senator
Penelope Jane Allman-Payne is an Australian politician who was born on March 19, 1970. She is a member of the Australian Greens and was elected to the Senate during the 2022 federal election. Her term began on July 1, 2022.
Allman-Payne started her career as a lawyer, specializing in insurance law. Later, she transitioned to teaching and worked as a secondary school teacher for over 25 years. During this time, she was an active member of the Queensland Teachers’ Union.
In 2010, Allman-Payne joined the Australian Greens. She ran as the party’s candidate for the Capalaba seat in the 2012 state election but was defeated by the LNP’s Steve Davies. The following year, she contested the federal seat of Bowman but lost to Andrew Laming in the 2013 federal election.
In the 2022 federal election, Allman-Payne was elected to the Senate. She began serving her term on July 1, 2022.
Allman-Payne is married and has two children. She has been living in Gladstone since 2018.
